Kioto - extendable Dining table

Concept
The design is based on the Torii, a Japanese arch at the entrance of Shinto temples. It marks the entrance to a sacred place. Like the Torii, the Kyoto dining table represents the entrance to the sacred union space around feeding.

Objetive
To create a dining table for small spaces that could expand from 4 to 6 seats.
Context
IMA, a Colombian furniture exporting company, commissioned the Kyoto dining table for its national brand UN CUARTO where I was an in-house designer. https://www.imafurniture.com/en/about-us/
